Telegram's long awaited cryptocurrency is, according to a rumour, to be compatible with Ethereum. Telegram expects to launch their mainnet by 31 October 2019. Given they told Gram's for over $1.7 billion at the height of the hashtag#ICO boom, I hope they have built something impressive with the money. Rolling out payments within Telegram would be an interesting development, particularly with the rise of Libra Association offering payments on mobile networks.
TON Labs, a tech startup helmed by investors in Telegram’s token sale has built a Solidity compiler, allowing decentralized applications built for ethereum to also run on TON.
TON Labs CEO and Managing Partner Alexander Filatov told CoinDesk that:
“That was probably the most difficult thing we built. It will allow the advanced Ethereum community to pull everything they wrote for ethereum into TON.”
